Janelle LaFaye Awls resides in Toledo, Ohio. When she’s not writing, she enjoys spending time with her family. She received her associate’s degree from Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown, Va. In 2004. She received her bachelor’s degree in 2006 from the American University School of Communication in Washington, D.C. with a minor in education studies from the School of Education. During her senior year, she was selected to take a class at the Washington Post. She returned one year later to pursue a one-year intense graduate program. She graduated in 2008 with her master’s degree in broadcast journalism and public affairs. She has worked as a Congressional Intern and an intern at the Kojo Nnamdi Show, WAMU 88.5-NPR Affiliate and WINC AM1400/FM 92.5 in Winchester, Va. She had the opportunity to work as the volunteer editor for the World Journalism Institute Times Observer in 2007. She expanded her career and worked as an intern/freelance reporter at The Connection Newspapers in Virginia from 2009 to 2010. Her work has been published in various publications, including the Toledo City Paper. Her motto is “Keep God first!” She is a minister.
